Steel Purlin
Our cold-formed steel C and Z sections are manufactured from high-quality cold-rolled steel strips through a continuous roll forming process. The steel strip is fed through a series of precisely designed forming rolls at room temperature, gradually bending it into the final C-shaped or Z-shaped cross-sectional profile. This cold forming process ensures tight dimensional tolerances, smooth surface finish, and high strength-to-weight ratio. Available in materials such as Q195, Q235B, Q345B, or SS400, with surface treatments including hot-dip galvanizing, pre-galvanizing, or painting as required. Custom punching for holes can also be provided to meet specific project needs. These sections are lightweight yet strong, reducing material consumption by up to 30% compared to traditional hot-rolled channels

Cold Formed Steel Purlin Specifications:
Our cold-formed C and Z sections are available in a wide range of standard sizes to suit various structural applications. For C-section purlins, the section dimensions are expressed as H × B × C × t, where H is the section height, B is the flange width, C is the lip length, and t is the material thickness. Standard C-section sizes range from 80 × 40 × 15 × (2.0 – 3.0 mm) up to 250 × 70 × 20 × (2.0 – 3.0 mm). For Z-section purlins, the dimensions are expressed as H × B × b × C × t, where H is the section height, B is the top flange width, b is the bottom flange width, C is the lip length, and t is the material thickness. Standard Z-section sizes range from 100 × 55 × 50 × 20 × (2.0 – 3.0 mm) up to 300 × 78 × 72 × 20 × (2.0 – 3.0 mm). Material thickness typically ranges from 1.5 mm to 3.0 mm, and standard section heights range from 80 mm to 300 mm. Standard lengths are 6m or 12m, with custom lengths and hole punching available upon request. All sections can be manufactured in various steel grades including Q195, Q235B, Q345B, and SS400, with hot-dip galvanized, pre-galvanized, or painted finishes.

Our cold-formed C and Z section purlins are manufactured from high-quality cold-rolled steel strips through a fully automated cold roll forming production line at room temperature. The process begins with the steel coil being uncoiled on a decoiler and fed into a leveling machine to eliminate internal stress and surface curvature, ensuring a flat and straight feed strip. The leveled strip is then precisely fed by a servo feeding system into the punching station, where a CNC punching machine creates mounting holes (round holes and oval connecting holes) at preset positions.
After punching, the steel strip enters the cold roll forming main unit, where it is continuously formed through a series of precision roller dies. During this process, the strip is gradually bent into the final C-shaped or Z-shaped cross-sectional profile. The formed sections are then straightened to ensure proper straightness and cut to specified lengths (typically 6m or 12m) by a flying saw. Surface treatments such as hot-dip galvanizing, pre-galvanizing, or painting are also available upon request. The entire production line is automatically controlled by a PLC system, with a production speed of 5-20 meters per minute, ensuring high efficiency, stable production, and excellent dimensional accuracy and consistency

Before packaging, our cold-formed C and Z section purlins are first surface-treated (oiled, galvanized, or painted) according to customer requirements to ensure proper corrosion protection during transit. The sections are then sorted by size and arranged in a nested stacking method (C-sections and Z-sections stacked separately) to ensure stable stacking and prevent deformation. Each bundle is secured with high-strength steel strapping or banding, with each bundle typically weighing 2-3 tons for easy forklift handling and container loading. Wooden strips or rubber pads can be placed between layers to prevent surface scratches caused by friction during transport. For punched products, special care is taken to avoid edge deformation around the holes. Each bundle is clearly labeled with product specifications, length, quantity, material grade, and customer information.
For container loading and shipping, the bundles are typically wrapped with waterproof paper or plastic film to create a moisture barrier, then loaded into standard 20-foot or 40-foot shipping containers. A 20-foot container can typically load approximately 20-25 tons of purlins (depending on section size and thickness). For extra-long lengths or bulk orders, bulk vessel or flat rack container shipping options are also available. All packaging materials comply with ISPM 15 international phytosanitary standards to ensure smooth customs clearance. Customized packaging solutions – such as pallet packing, wooden crates, or special labeling – are also available upon request.
Cold formed steel purlin (c and z section) are widely used in steel structure buildings, roof and wall purlins, solar panel mounting brackets, cable trays, warehouse racking, and agricultural greenhouse frames. With excellent corrosion resistance, easy installation, and customizable dimensions, our cold-formed C and Z sections offer a cost-effective and reliable solution for modern construction and renewable energy projects.
