The annual Tianjin Foreign Trade Talent Competition, jointly organized by Alibaba Group and the Tianjin Tian Ta Chamber of Commerce, came to a successful close last week. The event brought together over 100 local foreign trade companies for a month-long team-based sales competition, coinciding with Alibaba International Station’s March online procurement festival.
- A Platform for Growth and Collaboration
The competition was designed to energize foreign trade teams and boost sales performance during one of the busiest periods of the year. Participating companies were divided into groups, with each team competing to achieve the highest order volumes during the March procurement festival. The initiative aimed not only to drive short-term sales but also to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and healthy competition among Tianjin’s foreign trade professionals.

- Expert Insights and Recognition
Throughout the event, experienced Alibaba client managers and senior representatives from the Tianjin Tian Ta Chamber of Commerce delivered speeches, sharing actionable strategies on foreign trade operations, buyer communication, and digital marketing. Their insights provided participants with practical tools to enhance their sales approach and customer engagement.
An awards ceremony was held at the end of the competition, honoring the top-performing teams and individuals based on real-time online order performance during the procurement festival period. Winners received recognition and prizes for their outstanding sales achievements, celebrating their hard work and dedication.
- Driving Motivation and Performance
“Events like this not only strengthen the skills of our trade teams but also remind us of the importance of teamwork and continuous learning in today’s fast-changing global market,” said one participant from Tianjin.
By fostering a competitive yet supportive environment, the competition proved to be a powerful driver of both individual motivation and collective success. It highlights the growing importance of digital trade capabilities for companies looking to expand their international presence.
- Looking Ahead
As Alibaba International Station continues to host major procurement festivals in March and September each year, similar events are expected to become a regular feature of Tianjin’s foreign trade calendar. These initiatives are set to further strengthen the city’s position as a key hub for global trade talent and innovation.
